Culture and History

Notre-Dame de Druval was built from the 12th to the 13th century. Its west façade features a remarkable example of a gable with a projecting roof structure. The church is protected in its entirety; its classification as ISMH has been in effect since 13 March 1975.

The ecclesiastical history of Beaufour-Druval also includes the Church of Saint-Aubin in Saint-Aubin-Lébizay (Beaufour-Druval), which dates from the 12th century. On its south side, it preserves two small Romanesque windows and a cornice with a sawtooth ornament. Inside, it contains a gilded wooden altarpiece from the high altar with a 17th-century oil painting of the Holy Family.

Routes, Landscapes and Paths

The Route du Cidre is a tourist route that runs through the Pays d’Auge and uses small, picturesque roads. In Beaufour-Druval, this includes the “Sur le chemin des églises de Beaufour-Druval” route, a 6.5 km circular trail. It passes through the hilly landscape of the Pays d’Auge, with fields where cows and horses graze, apple orchards and half-timbered houses. The route follows quiet paved roads.

Apples, Cider and Farm Visits

Along the Route du Cidre, visitors can sample Norman terroir products in Beaufour-Druval. Tastings at Ferme cidricole Desvoye offer poiré, Pays-d’Auge-Cidre AOP, extra-brut cider, cider matured in Calvados barrels, Pommeau de Normandie, Calvados and apple juice.

Ferme cidricole Desvoye has 10 hectares of traditionally trained orchards, managed organically and located within the Pays-d’Auge-Cidre appellation area. During a visit, visitors can see the orchards, processing workshop, cuverie, cider cellar, old press, maturation cellars and newer facilities.

The family farm in Saint-Aubin-Lébizay also sells jams, honey and caramel in its farm shop. At the exit of Beaufour-Druval, there is also the producer Aurélien Le Page, where visitors can learn about the history of the farm, its know-how and small anecdotes.
