The Église Saint-Quentin was begun around 1440 and was listed as a historic monument in its entirety in 2011. It is a representative example of flamboyant art in the west of the Pas-de-Calais département. Its figurative friezes depict episodes from the life of the Virgin Mary and the martyrdom of Saint Quirinus. The Chapelle de la Vierge occupies the northern arm of the false transept.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Quentin also preserves historical traces of its construction history: after losing its nave around 1715, its choir and one transept arm remain. Traditional buildings can also still be seen in Montcavrel.

The Fief d'Hérambault was built in 1845 by Alexandre Roubier d'Hérambault, a politician born in Montcavrel. It has a square floor plan, extends over two levels and is a château in the Neo-Renaissance style. Four towers are crowned with pepper-pot roofs. The Fief d'Hérambault is privately owned and visible from the road.

The ruins of the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Longvillers and the former monastery of Saint-Josse-sur-Mer are located in the vicinity of Montcavrel. The Etaples Military Cemetary, which is classified as a park, is also nearby.

Nature and Trails

The Le Honlieu route begins in Montcavrel at 3 Bis Rue de Séhen. It passes through the Forêt de Montcavrel and crosses the Bois de Papenleu. Along the way, it offers panoramic views over the Course valley. The first stage follows the road to the Château de Montcavrel. The hiking route leads to Honlieu, a former fortified manor house.
