Buire-au-Bois lies in a valley leading towards the Authie. The Church of Notre-Dame has a bell tower dating from 1752. The nave and choir are generally dated to 1771.

Buire-au-Bois is part of the ZNIEFF “Bois de la Justice, bois d'Auxi-le-Château et pâture à "mille trous"”. At Pâture aux mille trous, this ZNIEFF encompasses a remarkable area of calcareous grassland, fringe communities and shrub vegetation. The ZNIEFF’s forests are home, among other species, to the white helleborine (Cephalanthera longifolia) and the cornelian cherry (Cornus mas). The “marchande des 4 saisons” is considered a remarkable tree.
Hiking
The Sentier des Moulins is an easy, 10-kilometre hiking trail. It passes former phosphate mines and Château de Bachimont, also known as La Folie. Hiking trails also lead through Buire-au-Bois’s heritage sites. The Sentier du Bois Patou is signposted with yellow PR trail markings.

A VTC circular cycling route starts in Buire-au-Bois.
