Culture
Valentine Reyre provided the designs for the entire ensemble of stained-glass windows in Saint Martin. The surviving original windows are located in the choir and the apsidioles. The Church of Saint Martin in Fontaine-Notre-Dame is an emblematic church from the First Reconstruction period.
In the Church of Saint Martin in Fontaine-Notre-Dame, the altar and tabernacle are located in the north aisle. Both are made of, or decorated with, red marble with white veining, black marble and white stone. The altar and tabernacle were listed as protected movable cultural heritage on 27 August 1987.
History
Fontaine-Notre-Dame was almost completely destroyed during the fighting of the Battle of Cambrai in November 1917; the Church of Saint Martin was among the main buildings destroyed. The Church of Saint Martin was built in 1928 at the exact location and on the foundations of the former church, which had been destroyed in 1917 during the Battle of Cambrai.
The Roman road from Bapaume became the settlement axis of Fontaine-Notre-Dame. The openwork concrete tower of the Church of Saint Martin is particularly visible from the A2 motorway.

“Les Foulées de la Folie” is a regularly held local running and walking event with documented editions in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. It includes a 10-kilometre run and a timed 10-kilometre walking event.
The “La bataille de Cambrai” autoroute is a very easy, 46-kilometre circular car route with a stated duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It includes a stop in Fontaine-Notre-Dame at Route Nationale 1372.
The sixth edition of the free rock festival “Fontaine en Scène” was scheduled to take place on 13 June 2026 at Stade Chomié in Fontaine-Notre-Dame.
