The site of Teyssode was originally a strategic point with a Roman oppidum.

On the site of Teyssode’s old fortress, nuns known as the “Demoiselles de Teyssode” established the former free school, Le Couvent.
The Neo-Gothic chapel next to the Château de Scalibert was built in 1905.
The Church of Saint-Pierre in Teyssode is considered a modern church.
The Chapel of Saint-Germier in Teyssode dates from the 19th century.
The underground structure at Bauthe Haute comprises three large rooms connected by passageways.
As part of the 2017 European Heritage Days, Saint-Pierre Church was open for free visits on Sunday, 17 September, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Landscape and Trails
From the ridges near Saint-André to those near Cazes-Haut, there are views of gently rolling hills above the Agout valley.
As part of the 2022 programme, a hike along the Voie Romaine featuring astronomical observations at archaeological sites was offered; the municipality of Teyssode participated as a partner municipality.
Agriculture and Regional Produce
Teyssode’s agricultural products include various types of poultry, capons, and lean and fatty ducks.
A cheese dairy in Cazes-Haut supplies regional markets with the sheep’s cheeses Tome de Cazes-Haut, St Germier and Palet de Canto Couqut.

The Château de Scalibert is accessible by car, and free parking is available on site.
The nearest railway station to the Château de Scalibert is in Damiatte, five minutes away by car.
