Montirat: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Montirat is an old fortified village that was once owned by the bishops of Albi. Its origins date back to the 9th or 10th century. Montirat was also formerly a stopping point for pilgrims arriving from Conques.

Culture

The Église Saint-Jacques in Montirat is fully protected as a listed historic monument; it was registered by a decree dated 3 September 1992. Montirat is also home to the Saint-Jacques parish church and chapels dating from the 16th century.

The fortified settlement of Lagarde Viaur also preserves remnants of its town walls and a fortified bell tower. The Church of Saint Thomas of Canterbury in Lagarde Viaur is listed as a historic monument. The heritage trail in Lagarde Viaur presents the history of the village through 19 information panels translated into English.

The Stage verrier offers guided introductory courses in glassmaking and stained-glass work; materials are provided. The Stage verrier glass workshop allows participants to create their own individual pieces, from everyday objects to glass mosaics.

Geographical setting

The Musée Toulouse-Lautrec is a museum in the wider regional area around Montirat. The Jardins du Palais de la Berbie and the Jardin National are also located there, both classified as gardens, as are Al Pech and Roc d'Anglars, which are peaks.
