Saïx: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the Les Étangs leisure area in Saïx, the Explorateurs du Tarn series comprises nine orienteering courses, divided into three themes with three difficulty levels each. The themed orienteering courses are free to use and require no registration. As an outdoor treasure hunt, Explorateurs du Tarn combines physical activity and thinking.

Nature and Water

The Sentiers les Etangs offer two walking trails around two lakes in an 80-hectare natural area. The Sentiers les Etangs leisure area is freely accessible. A wheelchair-accessible viewing point at the Sentiers les Etangs offers a view of the nearby Regional Nature Reserve.

The Cambounet-sur-le-Sor Regional Ornithological Nature Reserve allows visitors to observe birds free of charge year-round from four viewing points. It consists of several basins from former gravel pits, largely colonized by aquatic plants. The nature reserve is known for an important heron colony.

Culture and History

The historic village of Saïx is located on a cliff. The Saint-André Church forms part of the former fort of Saïx. At the foot of the old fort, the former prison was converted into the Espace Patrimoine, which is dedicated, among other things, to the history of the Chartreuse de Saïx.

The Espace Patrimoine Les Chartreux exhibition space in Saïx explores the Carthusian order and is open by appointment. Théron once had a port and a ferry that provided the only crossing.

Activities

The Chemin des oiseaux trail in Saïx is designated as a very easy, 5.7 km hike with a stated duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The Marché gourmand de Saïx offers food, entertainment, and musical accompaniment on site at the Halle de Saïx.
