Labastide-Rouairoux developed significantly in the 19th century through the textile industry. The Musée départemental du Textile is housed in a former 19th-century factory. Trails

The GR 7 long-distance hiking trail passes through Labastide-Rouairoux along the ridge of the Montagne Noire and connects Pic de Nore with Col de Cabaretou. The Sentier des Cayrans initially follows the greenway for around 2 km, then leads through dense woodland and connects three hamlets south of Labastide-Rouairoux: Lafeuillade, Cantignous and Fon de Santé. In Labastide-Rouairoux, the Sentier des Cayrans runs near the bridge over the Thoré.

The Labastide-Rouairoux–Peyremaux stage of the Tour du Tarn à cheval is 19.5 km long, begins in Labastide-Rouairoux and is suitable for horse riders.

The Sentier des Maîtres Verriers leads to an old glass furnace in Labastide-Rouairoux. The trail is open every day all year round and can be accessed free of charge.
