Water and nature

In Trébas, swimming is supervised every day in July and August from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Parcours de découverte de la nature features information panels, insect hotels, nesting boxes, hedgehog shelters, a traditional bread oven and a community garden. At the same time, it provides access to the biodiversity of an Espace Naturel Sensible on the banks of the Tarn.

The rich variety of fauna and flora in the upper Tarn Valley led to this area being recognised as one of the department’s Espaces Naturels Sensibles. The viewpoint at the Barrage de Trébas offers a beautiful view of the Tarn.

L’Oasis parc enfants offers large inflatable play equipment, pedal go-karts and a ball pit in a shaded outdoor park.

Paths and discoveries

The Sentier de Gaycre par les rivages passes through varied landscapes and leads to small heritage sites such as a washhouse, a cazelle and crosses. The Sentier des Sources runs past historic remains as well as remarkable natural and landscape heritage.

History

Trébas-les-Bains has Gallo-Roman thermal heritage associated with copper- and iron-rich waters. In the Middle Ages, Trébas was a fortified settlement; two fortified gates have survived from this period. The three springs of Trébas include Saint-Roch, Assié and Sainte-Marie.

Local life

In Trébas, a market selling local producers’ goods takes place every Sunday morning in July and August. Agricultural activities also continue, including fruit growing and a honey and vinegar workshop.
