Around the Pont de Tanus, Les Boucles du Ségala offers three hiking or trail routes ranging from 7 to 9 kilometres in length.
Nature
Tanus accounts for 14 hectares of the Viaur River within the Natura 2000 protected area "Valleys of the Tarn, Aveyron, Viaur, Agout and Gijou".
Culture
The Viaduc du Viaur, a railway bridge and an important steel structure, can be reached from Tanus. It was built between 1895 and 1902 based on a design by the engineer Paul Bodin.
The Church of Saint-Salvy des Fournials is a sight in Tanus. La Cabano showcases the techniques and tools used in traditional village trades, including shoemaking, baking, hairdressing and tailoring.
History
The Chapelle de Las Planques was built between the 11th and 12th centuries and features 16th-century frescoes. In the area around Tanus, the La Chapelle des Planques hiking route leads to the ruins of Vieux Tanus Castle.
Regional traditions
The Foire du Ségala has been held in Tanus since 1970. Authentic regional products can be sampled from local producers; the fair also showcases the craftsmanship of local artisans and their unique creations.
