Montgey: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature
The Boucle des Pyrénées is an easy, 6.8-kilometre circular PR hiking trail for families and takes around two hours. It passes through the municipalities of Aguts, Montgey and Puéchoursi. Access is from the town centre; parking is available near the town hall and the cemetery. The starting point of the Boucle des Pyrénées can also be reached by public transport.
The Boucle des Pyrénées offers views of the Lauragais landscape, the Montagne Noire and the Sor plain. When the Autan wind is blowing, the Pyrenean mountain range can be seen across the Lauragais basin.
Culture
The Château de Montgey has a square layout around a central courtyard, four towers and a convex southern façade. Its present appearance dates from the 15th and 16th centuries.
The Battle of Montgey took place in April 1211 and is considered a significant event in the Albigensian Crusade. Annual guided tours were held at the Château de Montgey during the Journées du Patrimoine. After the earlier tours led by Pierre Bouyssou, his children and grandchildren took over this role.
“Tout près d’ici” is a craft workshop for furniture making, handmade paper, lighting design and bespoke creations. Wood and plant fibres are processed there into decorative objects. By prior appointment, “Tout près d’ici” can be visited free of charge and independently.
