A signposted historical discovery trail leads on foot through the old town of Labruguière. The trail includes 15 information panels. Those choosing Labruguière as a destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Culture and History
The historic centre of Labruguière contains half-timbered houses. The corner tower of the Château de Labruguière was added to the supplementary inventory of historic monuments on 13 July 1927.
The Musée Arthur Batut contains photographic equipment, archives and photographs, as well as an exhibition area for contemporary or cultural-history photography. It also presents Arthur Batut’s invention of aerial photography using a kite, dating from 1888, as well as his composite portraits. Every summer, the A Ciel Ouvert festival in Labruguière presents an exhibition of very large-format photographs.
The Centre Culturel Le Rond Point offers a year-round public programme featuring theatre, dance, music, puppet theatre and circus; arthouse films are also shown.
At Eglise Saint Thyrs, three octagonal levels rest on a 36-metre-high square tower. The choir and bell tower of Eglise Saint Thyrs are listed as historic monuments. The church has a rib-vaulted chapel dating from the 14th century.
La Halle is classified as a historic monument. In 1266, the market hall La Halle was supported by five pillars made of dressed sandstone blocks. La Halle, or its site, is mentioned in 1266 in the charter of customs granted to the inhabitants by the lord of Labruguière.
Nature and Trails
The Montaud Forest contains wetlands known as “Sagnes”. The “Le Carbonéral” PR trail is an approximately 20-kilometre circular route.
Local Life
Labruguière’s weekly market takes place every Friday morning and offers local products along the main street and in the medieval town centre.
