Lavit: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Lavit is located in the gentle, rolling landscapes of Lomagne. At the beginning of the 14th century, the town became a bastide. For a stay in Lavit, some travellers plan to rent a holiday apartment.
Every Friday morning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Lavit's weekly market takes place under the covered market hall. Itinerant traders offer, among other things, cheese, fruit and vegetables, meat, shoes and clothing.
History
The town's history is also reflected in the Church of Saint James. It was built over an earlier sanctuary made of wood and clay and rebuilt several times in the same location over the course of several centuries.
Culture
The Church of Saint James features architectural elements from the 16th century, including walls, buttresses, side chapels and engaged columns. Its bell tower dates from the 19th century and is 27 metres high.
Lavit's central market hall is a square building with sides measuring 30 metres. It has 32 cast-iron pillars.
Nature
The “Circuit des crêtes” – PR7 hiking trail is a 10-kilometre route in Lavit. Along the way, you can see windmills, dovecotes, fauna, flora and landscapes.
