Marminiac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Les Limoges, Le Sidéral owns the site where Jean-Marie Massou lived. The association is responsible for preserving and presenting this site, as well as for managing and holding the rights to Massou’s works.

Visits to the Jean-Marie Massou site are possible by appointment. Unaccompanied visits are prohibited because of the dangerousness of the site. Planning a trip around the Jean-Marie Massou site and the Circuit de Boissièrette may include the wish to rent a holiday apartment in Marminiac.

Culture

The hamlet of Boissierette was the home and workplace of two generations of artists from the Bissière family: Roger Bissière (1886–1962) and Marc-Antoine Bissière, known as Louttre.B (1926–2012). From 1965 onwards, Louttre.B installed monumental sculptures in the forests around Boissierette. He also designed the “Jardin de pierres” there and built La Villa Dominique as a habitable sculpture. The ensemble also includes the Église Saint-Pierre de Boissierette, whose complete design was created and realised by Louttre.B. Le Bois des sculptures, the Jardin de pierres and La Villa Dominique are accessible all year round.

Another example of rural architectural history is the Ferme de Bouteille Haut. It is a rural farm in Quercy, listed as a historic monument and open to the public for visits to its farmyard. The rectangular building has two square towers on the façade and a larger tower at the western corner.

Nature

Marminiac is part of the continental type 2 ZNIEFF “Ruisseaux de l'Herm et de la Masse”. The Ruisseau de la Masse rises above Marminiac and is a tributary of the Lot. The otter is found in the ZNIEFF “Ruisseaux de l'Herm et de la Masse”.

Trails

The Circuit de Boissièrette begins in Marminiac and is 6.5 km long. It is a circular trail in the French Promenades et Randonnées (PR) category in Marminiac and leads to the hamlet of Boissièrette. Along the trail, visitors can discover sculptures and installations by Louttre.B with an audio guide created by his family.

Local character

The local offerings include Domaine des Grézals, which has been organically certified since 2018. Ratafia, a traditional aperitif of Quercy and Périgord, is produced there. Domaine des Grézals – SCEA La Vieille Maison, run by Bernard Dabertrand, is registered in Brunet / Marminiac as a producer of wine and spirits.
