Vendine: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A commemorative plaque for the Maison de Vendine was unveiled in Vendine on Sunday, June 2, 2024. The plaque tells the story of the Maison de Vendine during the Second World War and highlights the rescue of Jewish children by the network led by Jules Géraud Saliège, the Archbishop of Toulouse.

History

The Maison de Vendine became a refuge for children under the age of 15 who could be rescued from internment camps in France. Almost forty children received protection and comfort at the Maison de Vendine. The Maison de Vendine in Vendine is also the first of 14 stages on the route Le Lauragais en Résistance.
