The village of Maurens is situated on the top of a hill. The first settlement developed in the early Middle Ages around the church; the present-day village was built later. The church and cemetery are located 200 metres south of the present-day village.

Culture and History
The church of Maurens has been protected as a historic monument by decree of 18 June 1979. Its porch, dated 1521, has a vault with liernes and tiercerons.
The current vaults and bell tower of the church of Maurens date from 1845.

Landscape and Trails
The Chemin de l'Âne is a hiking and horse-riding route through the hilly Lauragais landscape between Maurens and Le Vaux.
The Circuit de la Saune is a 15.9-kilometre circular hiking trail through Maurens and Vaux. It follows an unpaved road past the cemetery and the church to the village of Maurens.
The Saune River forms the boundary between Maurens and the neighbouring municipality of Cambiac.
The Gîte de Censérou is less than a 20-minute walk from the “MAURENS – En Carron” stop, served by the Revel–Fourquevaux–Toulouse routes.
