Culture

Restored farm buildings and simple, historic religious buildings reflect the rural architecture of the Gers typical of the Savès region. The Church of Saint Romain was built, at least in the nave, from large dressed stone blocks.

Nizas's cultural heritage includes a statue of the Virgin Mary with its hands severed. In the Church of Saint Romain, a painted and gilded altarpiece with a carved statue of the Virgin Mary, signed and dated “Challes 1768”, is also located in a chapel on the northern side.

History

Nizas belonged to the Seigneurie of Savignac, which had existed there since the 11th century. From 1942 until the Liberation, Galin farm housed the operational command post of the Andalousie network of the Forces françaises combattantes.
