The old Castelnau of Mauroux lies on the edge of a plateau surrounded by deep ravines cut by streams. Below it are several houses built in a troglodyte style, as well as a round washhouse and a large livestock watering trough.

History and Culture

On the rocky promontory of Mauroux, the site of a medieval feudal castle, the remains of a castle, sections of fortified walls, 18th-century houses and a covered passage have been preserved.

The parish church of Saint Pierre-Saint Paul stands outside the fortifications of Mauroux and was built in the 15th century.

The Church of Saint-Martin de Las Oumettes was rebuilt at a new site more than 500 metres from the former church. The building is a rectangular hall, 21 metres long and 7 metres wide, with a straight chancel end. It has three altars, including altars dedicated to Saint Martial and Saint Francis of Assisi.

The Ferme des étoiles in Mauroux offers flight simulators, telescopes and a planetarium. It also organises evening astronomy events.
