Mur-de-Barrez is considered a basaltic plateau mountain, meaning an elevated rock formation that rises above the surrounding countryside. From the esplanade of Mur-de-Barrez Castle, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Cantal Mountains, the Aubrac Plateau and the landscapes of Carladez.

Culture

The Les Clauzades archaeological site extends across Taussac, Mur-de-Barrez and Raulhac (Cantal). Neolithic activities were identified there, including pits used to extract flint for the production of blades.
Nature
The Circuit de Bel-Air passes by meadows, forests, herds of livestock and flowing waters. Along the route, there are also traditional houses and barns with slate roofs made of lauze.
