Audressein showcases its history particularly impressively at the Church of Notre-Dame-de-Tramesaygues, which stands at the confluence of the Lez and Bouigane rivers. Its main construction phases date from the 14th, 16th and 17th centuries. In the 15th century, it was extended to the north and fitted with a north portal and an adjoining porch. In 1564, a southern side aisle with a Renaissance portal was added.
Culture and History
The Church of Notre-Dame-de-Tramesaygues was classified as a historic monument by decree of 13 August 1990. The votive offerings housed inside it are also part of the town’s documented history: they attest to a pilgrimage.
Another historical testimony is the Bâtiment dit la batteuse hydraulique in the centre of Audressein. It is located immediately next to the old bridge over the Bouigane, which connects the settlement’s various districts, and near the washhouse. The building was constructed at the end of the 19th century as part of a group of rural facilities including a washhouse and mill, and served the economic activities of Audressein and its surrounding area from 1883 to 1946.
Its technical history is closely linked to the Bouigane: water diverted from the river powered the turbine, which set the fan and threshing machine in motion. The Bâtiment dit la batteuse hydraulique, including its entire hydraulic mechanism and the threshing machine itself, was placed under heritage protection as a historic monument by decree of 17 March 2003.

The area’s sporting attractions include the Traversée du Couserans Ouest. This natural experience is open to everyone, but requires proficiency in mountain biking (VTT) on all types of terrain.
