The traditional old village of Sercœur consists of imposing traditional farmhouses, giving the village centre a uniform architectural character. Further traditional farmhouses have been preserved in the older part, arranged behind former “usoirs”.
Those who choose Sercœur as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.
A Cassini map from the 18th century already shows Sercœur in the Durbion valley. There are two churches in the vicinity of Sercœur: the Basilique Saint-Maurice and the Église Saint-Nicolas.
Nature
Sercœur lies in the Entre Moselle et Mortagne landscape unit, an open agricultural landscape characterised by extensive rolling terrain shaped by waterways. The village is located in the Durbion valley; the Durbion flows through Sercœur, which consists of two clearly separate settlement areas on its banks.
The agricultural land around Sercœur is extensive and is used predominantly as meadowland. The open agricultural areas contain several orchards, hedges along the boundaries of rural paths and riverside plantings that emphasise the course of the various streams. The municipality also contains numerous wetlands near waterways and wooded areas.
The permanent waterways in Sercœur feature meanders bordered by significant and diverse riverside vegetation. Preserved hedges provide nesting opportunities for many bird species.
Surroundings
The RD46 passes through Sercœur and forms an important transport artery through the municipality.
In the wider region surrounding Sercœur are the Musée du Cristal, a museum, and the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Saint-Joseph d'Ubexy, an abbey. Côte de Virine is a summit there; Haut Jacques, Saint-Mont and Haut de Bouvacôte are mountains.
