Pouxeux: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pouxeux developed on the left bank of the Moselle, opposite the confluence with the Vologne. Those planning to visit the town as a travel destination may want to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture and History

The church of Pouxeux replaced an older chapel whose origins are traditionally traced back to the 7th century and which was already dedicated to Saint Gorgon and Saint Nabord. The foundation stone of the church of Pouxeux was blessed and laid on 16 September 1782.

Fort d’Arches, formerly called Fort Berwick, was built between 1875 and 1877 as part of the Haute Moselle defensive belt. It was modernised several times and equipped with armour plating, a power station and a Galopin turret. During the First World War, Fort d’Arches served as a training centre for mountain warfare. ARFA is working on the restoration and enhancement of Fort d’Arches.

The historic site of Abbaye de Remiremont and the Basilique Saint-Maurice church are located in the area around Pouxeux.

Landscape

Fort d’Arches is located at an altitude of 475 metres and overlooks the Vologne and Moselle valleys. The Saint-Mont and Haut de Bouvacôte mountains are also located in the area around Pouxeux. In the wider regional area are the Moyenmont and Tête de la Neuve Roche mountains, as well as the Église Saint-Nicolas church.

Cycling

The “De Pouxeux à Dinozé par le canal de Vouzey” route is a moderately difficult 23.1 km mountain biking tour.

Regular bus services connect Pouxeux with Épinal and Remiremont.
