Culture
The Château de Malbrouck was built at the beginning of the 15th century by the knight Arnold VI de Sierck, who called it Château de Meinsberg. It is considered the only fully preserved 15th-century castle in Lorraine.
The Château de Malbrouck has been open to the public since 1998 and has offered a diverse cultural programme ever since.
Above Manderen stands the Église Saint-Étienne, which replaced a church dating from 1618. The nave and choir are believed to have been built around 1776; the bell tower is dated 1894. Its richly carved furnishings include a stone high-altar retable from the transitional period between the late Renaissance and early Baroque, as well as several statues.
When planning a stay in Manderen, the wish to rent a holiday apartment can be taken into account as a separate item.
Hiking
The Circuit de Malbrouck is a challenging 14-kilometre circular hike with a stated duration of five hours. This outdoor walking route begins in Manderen-Ritzing and combines historical and natural themes. The Circuit de Malbrouck is signposted.
The Chapelle de la Paix is highlighted along the Circuit de Malbrouck as a place of understanding between peoples.
Nature
The Ravin du Diable can only be visited outdoors and independently via marked paths. The Résurgence du Husprung is a Vaucluse-type karst spring and a resurgence of infiltrated water, where visitors can observe the water emerging from the ground.
The Ravin du Diable is an important attraction in the forest of Manderen and consists of a depression containing a pond. It is associated with the legend that Arnold VI de Sierck sold his soul to the devil in order to complete the construction of his castle.
