Culture
The Maison de Robert Schuman is a cultural site managed by the Moselle Department; this administration has been in place since 2000. It comprises a residential building, a large garden and a manor house dating from the late Middle Ages. Since 9 May 2000, the Maison de Robert Schuman has been a memorial site open to the public all year round. The museum area is fully accessible to visitors with reduced mobility thanks to a lift.
The Maison de Robert Schuman offers recreational and educational workshops for children aged five to twelve. The house also bears the “Maison des Illustres” label. The cultural programme includes European Week in May and concerts.
The Église Saint-Rémi features both Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. The Église Saint-Quentin was built in the 12th century by the fathers of Gorze Abbey; Robert Schuman is buried there.
Landscape
Mont Saint-Quentin is home to military remains as well as natural features such as calcareous grasslands and wild orchids. The Place de l’Esplanade offers a remarkable viewpoint over the city of Metz and the Moselle Valley. Five urban or short hiking trails begin at this square.
The Jardin des plantes de chez nous overlooks the Moselle Valley and showcases forgotten plants developed by some of the most renowned horticulturists of the early 20th century. The Parc Ecologique et de la Biodiversité is home to a wide variety of plant and animal species, as well as a small vegetable garden with perennial plants.
Wine
The former wine-growing villages of Scy and Chazelles have regained the AOC designation “Vins de Moselle”. The Route des vins de Moselle also passes through Scy-Chazelles; its passage through the town was inaugurated there in 2014.
Mobility
The Metz'O 1 river shuttle line connects Metz city centre with Scy-Chazelles and Moulins-lès-Metz. Bicycles and scooters are allowed on board.
