La Maxe: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Immediately east of the village of La Maxe lies the archaeological site of La Maxe, an approximately 6-hectare microtopographic landform. It reveals successive phases of human settlement from the Early Neolithic, around 5000 BC, to the Early Middle Ages and includes a significant rural settlement from the Gallo-Roman period.

Nature

On the left bank of the lagoon lies the La Maxe bird sanctuary. Its body of water covers 60 hectares and serves as a resting place for birds migrating through the region every autumn and spring. Observation points provide opportunities to observe this ecosystem.

The Sentier n°9 – Les grandes serres is classified as easy for hiking and cycling and runs along the banks of the Moselle, shaded by majestic willows.

In Lorraine, the Voie Bleue follows the Moselle Valley, using towpaths among other routes. In Lorraine, it is a 260-kilometre cross-border cycle route that can be used by cyclists and continues into Germany and other French regions.

The Véloroute V50 in La Maxe is a shared-use path for pedestrians, cyclists and inline skaters. In Lorraine, the Véloroute connects Apach on the Luxembourg border with Lyon and is 700 kilometres long.
