Culture

The former synagogue at 7 Rue des Jardins in Ennery was fully classified as a historic monument by decree of 25 June 2024. It is a very rare surviving example of a rural synagogue in Lorraine and preserves a women’s gallery with oriental-style festoons.

The Church of Saint-Marcel in Ennery was built by the Templars towards the end of the 15th century. At that time, Ennery was a mandatory stopping point for pilgrims travelling to Compostela. The church preserves its old architecture in the choir and transept, with remarkable details. The stained-glass windows in the apse form a cohesive ensemble that was probably created around 1548 by a pupil of Valentin Bousch. An organ was installed in Saint-Marcel Church in 2008.

The Château d’Ennery was one of the most important fortresses in the Pays de Metz and protected its northern side. It was abandoned in the second half of the 20th century and is now in ruins.

The Belle-Croix d’Ennery has been classified as a historic monument since 3 September 1921. The Belle-Croix stands at the intersection of the road from Maizières-lès-Metz to Ennery and the road from Metz to Thionville.
