Culture and History
Château-Chervix is one of the oldest vici, or settlements, in the Limousin, dating from Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages.
The medieval tower of Château-Chervix is the former keep of a motte castle built in the 12th century by the Viscount of Limoges. Until it fell into disrepair in the 16th century, this keep was the seat of local administrative, tax and judicial authority.
The area surrounding the medieval tower is closed to the public during restoration work.
The Church of Saint Sylvain du Chateau is a Romanesque building from the 11th century with a single nave and two side chapels.
The Chapel of Notre Dame de Puy de Bar was built in 1860 in fulfilment of a vow and restored in 1950.
At the Fournil du Petit Gueulard, organic sourdough bread is made and baked in a wood-fired oven.

The Sentier de la forêt de Fayat passes by the Puy de Bar chapel and its viewpoint.
