The Château de Sainte-Fortunade dates from the 15th century and was structurally altered in the 19th century. The parish church of Saint-Martial houses the object “chef-reliquaire: sainte Fortunade” in its church treasury.
The “chef-reliquaire: sainte Fortunade” has been classified as a protected object since 25 June 1891; in the associated protection classification, the reliquary is dated to the 15th century. The Romanesque choir of Saint-Martial church dates from the 12th century.
The comital chapel of Notre-Dame is attached to the south side of the nave and served as the burial place of the counts’ family. The Notre-Dame-des-Métayers chapel was rebuilt in 1868 with a bell-gable wall.
After its renovation in 1987, the Notre-Dame-des-Métayers chapel was decorated with frescoes depicting rural work and pastimes, as well as with a Madonna with botanical motifs by Guido De Bonis. Barry-Bas is a medieval lane at the foot of the château, lined with aristocratic and bourgeois houses.
