Prats-De-Mollo-La-Preste: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Fort Lagarde comprises a star-shaped keep built around a medieval signal tower and was used to keep the inhabitants under control after the Angelets de la terra revolt. Fort Lagarde and the underground passage connecting it to the town were classified as historic monuments by decree of 15 January 1925.

Culture

The Église Saint-Juste-et-Sainte-Ruffine is a fortified church whose 13th-century bell tower served as a defensive tower. The Tour de Mir is a 13th-century signal tower built under the kings of Majorca to transmit military information. The Tour de Mir was listed as a historic monument in 2002 and extensively restored in 2008; it is also associated with the historic PR No. 7 hiking route.

The Fête de l’Ours is celebrated in Prats de Molló shortly before spring, on a Sunday at the end of February, as the opening of the carnival festivities. The Soft’Arts gallery exhibits works by a bead artist, a painter, a textile artist and a photographer. The Coutellerie d’Art is a workshop open to the public where Morian Theuns and Aurelie Marquès make traditional Catalan knives and visitors can watch them at work.

Orientation

The fortified town of Prats de Molló can be visited freely all year round. Fort Lagarde can be reached on foot via the path and/or the covered walkway in 15 to 20 minutes; from there, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the valley and the fortified town.

Nature

The Prats de Molló nature reserve stretches 11 km from the sources of the Tech to Pla Guillem and ranges from 1,490 to 2,507 m in altitude. Pyrenean species found in the Prats de Molló nature reserve include the Pyrenean chamois, the bearded vulture, the golden eagle, the rock ptarmigan and the capercaillie.

Activities

VTT Circuit No. 17 is a 42.05 km very difficult loop starting and ending in Prats de Molló, with an 11 km cross-border section along the ridge on the South Catalonia side.

Thermal waters

The Spa Thermal de la Preste offers body treatments, balneotherapy, a beauty area, individual treatment cabins, a thermal-water pool and a relaxation room with panoramic views of the valley. The Station Thermale de la Preste has been offering the benefits of its thermal springs for more than seven centuries and is renowned for treating disorders of the urogenital tract of infectious origin, as well as metabolic and rheumatological conditions.
