Brissac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Brissac park is crossed by the Avèze, a river fed by “a hundred springs”. The Sentier de l'Eau runs through the park along 33 numbered stones from the springs to the lagoon.

Nature

The Bois de Long lies on the first slopes of the Séranne, in a forest bearing traces of prehistoric settlement. The Boucle Cyclo N°10 circular cycle route between the Buèges and Hérault valleys leads to Brissac.

History and Culture

The Château de Brissac dates back to the early 11th century and is not open to visitors.

The medieval Pont de Saint-Etienne-d’Issensac bridge enabled pilgrims to travel towards Saint Guilhem along the Way of Saint James. It retains three of its original five arches and has been classified as a monument historique since 1948.

The Chapelle Saint-Étienne d’Issensac was first mentioned in 1080 under the name Exalchiato. It is a Romanesque building dating from the 12th century and is located in the Issensac district, within the municipality of Brissac in the Hérault department of Occitania.

Activities

Fun Kart Brissac has a 1,185-metre karting track homologated by the FFSA. Karts are rented there for different levels of experience. There is also a swimming area at Saint-Etienne-d’Issensac, set up for the summer season.

Getting Around

Outside the pilgrimage days, the Basilica of Notre-Dame-du-Suc is open on Sunday afternoons. During the day, visitors can freely access the terrace, the Lourdes Grotto and the statue of the Virgin of the Mountain. The BRISSAC – Mairie bus stop is less than a ten-minute walk from the Basilica of Notre-Dame-du-Suc and is served by the Causse de la Selle–Ganges routes.
