Brenas: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Geographical location
Brenas is located in the heart of the Ruffe landscape and forms a link between the Monts d’Orb and the Clermontais (Lac du Salagou).
Those choosing Brenas as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
In the wider area around Brenas, the descent beyond Brenas and Mas Bas offers an impressive view of a Ruffe canyon; in the background, the Castellas de Mérifons stands on a volcanic rocky outcrop. Also in the wider area around Brenas is the source of the Salagou River at the Col de la Merquière, on the municipal boundary with Dio-Valquières and Carlencas.
Nature and hiking
The Les Ruffes circular trail is an easy 7-kilometre hike with 220 metres of elevation gain and a stated duration of 3 hours. It passes through red Ruffe landscapes characterised in spring by vibrant green pastureland and golden-yellow broom, and offers views of the Castellas de Malavieille, the Ruffe landscape and the valley. The trail begins at the car park in front of the church in the centre of Brenas and follows the Ruisseau de la Combe through the Ruffe landscape.
The circular trail also passes through an overwintering area for cattle and through plots with cows and calves; dogs must be kept on a lead there.
Activities
The Sentier des Deux Lacs is the main section of the GR de Pays Entre Deux Lacs Avène–Salagou; the two-lake tour can be completed in 3, 4 or 5 days.
On the GTMC VTT, a technically challenging and rocky descent follows Brenas.
Culture
The Église paroissiale de L'Assomption-de-Notre-Dame parish church in Brenas may date back to the 17th century; it was extended and remodelled in the 19th century. It has an elongated floor plan, a single-nave interior and a groin vault.
