At the top of the Mauressipe is the Oppidum de Mauressipe. According to local accounts, it dates from around 2500 BC and has a square tower with Hellenistic masonry facing. It is protected as a historic monument: its Hellenistic tower and the adjacent settlement ruins were classified by decree of 8 September 1978, while the oppidum was listed by decree of 14 June 1982.

Culture and history

A capitelle is a dry-stone hut that formerly served small landowners in the former garrigues as temporary shelter for their tools and agricultural produce. The Temple de Saint-Côme-et-Maruéjols is also part of the village landscape. It was built in 1867; inside, the temple has a single-nave layout and a gallery with a wooden balustrade supported by Tuscan columns.

The opening of the 2026 Fête votive in Saint-Côme-et-Maruéjols included the “longue de Saint-Côme à Maruéjols”, followed by a traditional meal in Maruéjols.

Routes and activities

The “Balade De Puechs en Combes” hiking route passes through Montpezat and Saint-Côme-et-Maruéjols. Fontarame is a spring shaded by plane trees. The Espace familial in Saint-Côme-et-Maruéjols includes a skate park.

At the Domaine équestre de Maruéjols, visits to the horse-breeding facility are offered on foot, on a pony or in a carriage; 20 Camargue horses and 12 ponies are mentioned.

The Domaine also offers one- or two-hour rides, as well as full-day excursions on horseback or in a carriage, and, for children aged three and over, pony hire on four signposted trails. It has 110 hectares of pastureland, where 52 horses are bred.

Wine and local produce

The Domaine de Mouressipe produces and offers exclusively natural wines and Vin de Pays from organic farming. The Domaine is a 13-hectare vineyard where Grenache predominates.

The Domaine de Foltodon is a 14-hectare organic vineyard on terraces in Saint-Côme-et-Maruéjols. The vines benefit from an ideal microclimate; the vineyard produces red, rosé and white wines valued for their balance and aromatic complexity.
