Montaren-Et-Saint-Médiers: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Since 2008, the Fête du Pois Chiche has taken place every year in the village of Montaren-et-Saint-Médiers between the end of May and the beginning of June. It attracts local, national and international visitors.

Anyone wishing to combine culture, nature and regional cuisine in Montaren-et-Saint-Médiers may consider renting a holiday apartment.

Culture

Near the Temple of Montaren are the Petits Jardins, fourteen traditional vegetable gardens enclosed by dry-stone walls. During the Fête du Pois Chiche, they are used for the Musée International du Pois Chiche as well as performances, activities, musical interludes, conferences, exhibitions and association stalls.

L’Abri du Temps houses a collection of objects relating to the history of the village. The former communal bakery oven of Montaren has been restored, is visible from the main road and is no longer in operation.

The ancient Roman road of the Helvii, which runs through the municipality along the D979, led from Nîmes to Viviers and the Rhône.

The Tour Sarrazine is a remnant dating from the 12th century of the former, now disappeared, castle of Montaren. Today, it is integrated into a private residential area; the association Les amis de la tour sarrazine brings the structure to life with cultural and artistic activities.

Nature

On Carcarie Hill, there is a fitness trail laid out among the pine trees. A footpath on Carcarie leads to a panorama overlooking the agricultural land and the garrigue.

Cuisine

La Ferme des Clos d’Uzès holds direct-sales markets on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm during the summer, offering products from local producers in the Uzège. The farm restaurant serves dishes made with organic and local products from the Uzège beneath the olive trees. La Ferme des Clos d’Uzès offers guided tours of the farm on request.
