Langlade: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Voie Verte de la Vaunage runs through the municipality of Langlade. The route is very easy, takes around two hours, and covers 19.2 kilometres.

Cycling

There are only a few road crossings along this route; the RD40 departmental road passes underneath the route at two points.

The “Capitelles et Oppida” mountain-bike trail follows paths once used by the Celts and Romans.

Along the trail are stone shepherds’ shelters known as capitelles.

Culture and History

The Temple de Langlade is located in the former Romanesque church of Saint-Julien. The original Saint-Julien church was fortified in the 15th century; a covered walkway with machicolations may have connected the nave at the upper level of the outer walls to the choir.

The origins of the Moulin Cavalier in Langlade date back to the 13th century; it is also shown on the Tassin map of 1634. Its name recalls a stop made by the Camisard leader Jean Cavalier on 16 April 1704. Faithfully restored, the mill can turn and grind grain when the wind is strong enough.

Winegrowing

At Château Langlade, wines from the AOC Coteaux du Languedoc and Vins de Pays d’Oc are available for tasting and purchase. The associated wine-growing area covers around 22 hectares in the garrigue, particularly on the stony, clay-limestone soils of the terroir known as “Vieux Langlade”.

Domaine Arnal produces, sells, and offers tastings of wines from the AOC Coteaux du Languedoc and Vins de Pays de la Vaunage. Visitors can sometimes be taken into the vineyards to gain a better understanding of the terroir.
