Culture and History

The oldest parts of the Church of Saint Martin date back to the 12th century. The church also contains a 15th-century Madonna and Child that deserves particular attention.

The municipality had the Tour de guet, also known as the Tour de l’Horloge, repaired in 1794 so that it could accommodate a clock; the clock was installed in 1795. Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian was born at the Château de Florian in 1755. The village temple was built from 1852 to 1855.

The Chapelle de Pise is privately owned. It was built between 1992 and 1998 on the ruins of a 12th-century sheep shelter to mark the 400th anniversary of the Edict of Nantes and is a temple affiliated with the Reformed Church. The interior of the Chapelle de Pise can only be visited during services or cultural events in summer.

Wine

Wine has been cultivated at the Domaine de Florian since 1820. The Domaine de Florian is situated on a clay-limestone terroir with marl bands and a microclimate characterised by pronounced temperature fluctuations; twelve well-adapted grape varieties are cultivated there.
