Things to do

The signposted wine walk “Balade vigneronne à Aspères” is a 2.7-kilometre circular route starting and ending in Aspères. Access is free; the car park at the Foyer rural is recommended for parking.

The horse-riding tour “Promenade à cheval – Autour d’Aspères” starts and ends at the Foyer d’Aspères. An audio guide for this route is available via the Latitude Gard smartphone app. The route is easy, signposted and laid out as a 7.4-kilometre circular route.

The “Le bois de Paris” walk offers an out-and-back route to the Roc du Midi, with a viewpoint and an orientation board.

History

The former magnanerie in Aspères is a three-storey building used for silkworm breeding. It was in operation from 1840 to 1900.

Hiking trails in Aspères lead to the ruins of former shepherds’ huts. They also lead to capitelles, traditional shelters made of dry-stone masonry, as well as to the caves in the Bois de Paris, which were formerly used to produce charcoal.

Wine and origin

Mas des Cabres is a family-run winery with an organic focus; the family has been based in Aspères since 1724. In its century-old cellar, Mas des Cabres has a very old vertical wooden wine press.

The wine walk “Balade vigneronne à Aspères” invites visitors to discover the Mas Montel/Mas Granier winery.
