Payra-Sur-L'hers: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Église de la Sainte Vierge belonged to Alet Abbey in 1119 and preserves a Romanesque portal dating from the 12th century. The portal was classified as a Monument historique on 22 November 1932; the church, excluding the classified portal, was listed as a Monument historique on 2 February 1988.
The Château de Payra-sur-l'Hers is a residential building constructed in the 16th century. It appears to have been built before the Wars of Religion, from 1562 to 1595, under Raymond de Marion, a general tax farmer for the queen who had grown wealthy through the pastel trade. The approximately square floor plan includes a small square tower to the east and an échauguette near the northwestern corner. It also includes an isolated round tower that was later used as a dovecote.
The Motte de Pech de Nadieu is located about 500 metres from the village of Payra-sur-l'Hers, on a spur of land covered with oak trees, at the foot of which two small streams converge. The site is a square earthen mound with sides measuring approximately 16 metres and a height of about 2 metres; it is surrounded by a ditch approximately 13 metres wide and 5 metres deep.
The Château de Lafage ruins are located in the area around Payra-sur-l'Hers. The wider region is home to the historic site of Abbaye Sainte-Marie de Beaulieu, the Notre-Dame de Prouille monastery, the historic site of Abbaye de Boulbonne, and the hills of Monombre and Pic de Montegut.

The Les Chemins Retrouvés association offers eight hiking circuits in the municipality of Payra-sur-l'Hers, allowing visitors to discover its landscapes. Two hiking circuits from Payra-sur-l'Hers have been included in the PDIPR, the departmental plan for walking and hiking trails, and marked with the required yellow trail signs.
