Culture and History

The church of Montlaur is dedicated to Saint Eulalia of Mérida. It is Gothic and built in the pure pointed-arch style; a large part of the building dates back to the 14th century.

Today, only the “portail de Bissens” gate remains of Montlaur’s medieval fortress.

The Château de Montlaur was built around 1160 on the rocky spur of Pech Matus. Its fortifications included an initial enclosure around the rock, a second wall with three gates, and a barbican.

Nature

The “Nature et Patrimoine en Alaric” route begins at the car park at Col du Fer à Cheval between Capendu and Montlaur.

This route is located in the “Corbières occidentales” Natura 2000 site.

The Parc du Domaine de Montlaur bears the EBTS label.

The Cellier des Troubadours offers wine tastings as well as guided tours of the winery for individuals and groups.

By reservation, the Cellier des Troubadours offers discovery tours of its vineyards, on foot or on horseback.

The Cellier des Troubadours is a cooperatively run winery where four winegrowers process their grapes together into wine. It is located in a former winery dating from the early 20th century.
