The birds of prey considered in the Hautes-Corbières Natura 2000 site include the Eurasian eagle-owl, peregrine falcon, booted eagle, short-toed snake eagle, and European honey buzzard.
The Castrum d'Albières was built on a rocky spur of hard primary sandstone, bounded by deeply incised gorges. The peaks le Pech, Mont Escoujeat, Plan Dounat, and Pech de l'Estelhe are located in the immediate vicinity of Albières.
