Chavenay: Holiday Apartments and Houses
The Church of Saint-Pierre in Chavenay has been protected as a historic monument since 7 June 1933. Its main construction phase dates back to 987. The nave consists of three bays, while the two-bay choir ends in a flat apse. The supporting structures are made of locally sourced limestone; the walls are built from limestone and millstone, or exclusively from millstone.

Culture and History
Inside, the altarpiece installed in 1714 frames the painting “Les clés de Saint-Pierre”. This is a 19th-century copy of a work by Guido Reni; the original is in the Louvre.
Behind the church is the washhouse, which was not roofed until the beginning of the 20th century. In the past, laundry in Chavenay was cleaned in a washtub with ash and boiling water. The washerwomen then scrubbed and rinsed it in cold water.
The Ferme Brillon became a community and cultural centre in 1988. Performances take place in its courtyard, which also houses the village library.
Landscape and Paths
Equestrian circular route no. 7, known as the “Boucle Royale”, runs through the Plaine de Versailles and crosses the Ru de Gally, which flows through Chavenay, several times.
The Ru de Gally, the hilly terrain and the nearby forests of Marly and Saint-Germain shape a landscape in Chavenay enjoyed by walkers, runners and horse riders.
Transport Connections
Buses connect Chavenay with Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche railway station, the railway stations in Villepreux or Plaisir, and Versailles.
Products
Ferme de Mézu produces organic oils from sunflower, soy, camelina and rapeseed. Its oilseed crops are pressed and bottled on site. In Chavenay, the oils are available at Epis & Pains, 5 Rue de Gally.
