In 1842, Claude-François Denecourt created the world’s first marked hiking trails in the Forest of Fontainebleau, known as the “sentiers bleus”.

The Sentier des Gorges de Franchard passes through the main landscapes of the Forest of Fontainebleau, offering views of heathlands, boulder fields and tall oak forests.

The park of the Château de Fontainebleau is open around the clock all year round and provides a link between Fontainebleau and Avon.

Local

The Fontainebleau market takes place three times a week, on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings. More than 100 food and other vendors offer their goods there.
