The Musée municipal des Capucins has held the official designation “Musée de France” since 17 September 2003. Its collections trace the history of the local area from prehistoric times to the present day. The collection covers archaeology, decorative arts, fine arts, ethnology, history, photography, and technology and industry.
The Parc des Capucins preserves the courtyard, moats, and two guard pavilions of the former castle. The remains of the castle have been protected as historic monuments since 1930. The park also includes French and English garden areas with rare plant species, centuries-old trees, and sculptures by contemporary artist Pierre Brun.
The Commanderie des Templiers was built between the 12th and 15th centuries and is considered the best-preserved Templar complex north of the Loire. It includes a medieval garden created in 1993 in cooperation with the Fondation Yves Rocher. It covers 4,000 m² and is divided into four themed areas.
The Église Saint-Denys-Sainte-Foy combines a Briard architectural style and the use of millstone with Byzantine decorative elements and an eight-sided dome. The Halle aux Fromages was built in 1887 as a place for the exchange and sale of Brie cheese and has been designated a heritage site of regional interest since 2019.
The Théâtre de Coulommiers remains part of the cultural season and hosts chamber music concerts. It was built in 1904 with a layout inspired by Italian theatres. The theatre contains historic stage machinery, which has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments since 1994.
Nature
The Sentier Nature runs along the Grand Morin and forms a small biodiversity area in Coulommiers town centre. The nature trail explores the seasonal changes in ecosystems and species, including overwintering animals, swallows, and returning birds.
The Coulommiers Tourist Office brings together information about local activities in the areas of heritage, the environment, and gastronomy, and accepts reservations.
