Champagne-Sur-Seine: Holiday apartments and houses

The GR 2 long-distance hiking trail passes through Champagne-sur-Seine and then runs along the Seine. Culture

The Église Saint-François-d’Assise was designed by Michel Marot and built between 1963 and 1965. Its spire is 26 metres high, and the walls are clad in Meulière stone. Inside, 14 red-tinted stained-glass windows form a Stations of the Cross.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-toutes-les protections was built in 1938 with funds from Russian immigrants who had lived in Champagne-sur-Seine since 1917 and mostly worked at the Schneider works. The chapel preserves its collection of icons and the doors of the iconostasis and bears the «Architecture contemporaine remarquable» label.

The Église Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption contains preserved structural elements from the 12th century and has been listed as a Monument historique since 1926.

History

The built history of Champagne-sur-Seine also includes the Cité des Alouettes, a row-house development inspired by English workers’ housing estates.
