The Church of Saint Martin was founded in 1464, as evidenced by an inscription in the choir. It also houses an equestrian statue of the saint dating from the 15th century, as well as a high relief bearing the coat of arms of the de Montreuil family.
Culture
At the edge of the village stands Anrosey’s stone cross. It has a hexagonal base, an ornamented column foot, a likewise hexagonal shaft, a capital and a crucifix.
History
Anrosey is already mentioned in the 12th century in a donation made by the Lord of Laferté to monks. The village was affiliated with the nearby Vaux-la-Douce Abbey. An individual is also associated with Anrosey: the surgeon Hubert Jacob was born here.
The portal of Anrosey’s former girls’ school recalls a school founded in 1823. In the cemetery, Anrosey’s cemetery cross dates from the 18th century; on 1 February 1929, it was included in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. The same cemetery also contains a second iron cross listed as a historic monument. The traditional village landscape also includes Anrosey’s former communal fountain, with a covered well surround and a stone livestock trough.
Cuisine
At the Ferme aux Confitures des Carmottes, visitors can discover jams and jellies made from fruit, flowers, vegetables and wild berries. The Ferme aux Confitures des Carmottes also produces jams, fruit pastes and “Cheuchons” – dried apple slices – from ingredients gathered in the garden or in nature, reviving traditional methods in the process.
Nature
The circular hiking trail “Les Coteaux de Coiffy (Sud – via Anrosey)” is more than 18 km long. The trail descends to Anrosey via a small paved road. In the village, it leads towards the church.
