History

The Christian art workshop “la Sainterie” of Vendeuvre-sur-Barse was founded by the sculptor Léon MOYNET. In 1844, Léon MOYNET began producing statues in a workshop on the western edge of Vendeuvre-sur-Barse, while the Sainterie was going through its early development phase. From 1860 onwards, he developed an extensive industrial complex for the Sainterie, with a large round kiln and a steam engine for kneading the clay.

The Mélusine heritage circuit includes a panel entitled “Sainterie”.
