Veilleins: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Nature and Trails

The Circuit de Monthault is located in the Sologne Natura 2000 Special Protection Area and runs through forests. There, the horse-riding route passes through undergrowth and agricultural plains, along light-coloured paths and beside several ponds, highlighting pollarded willows as living refuges for numerous animal species.

The Circuit de l’Ardrelle passes through forests, undergrowth, plains and pond landscapes in a natural environment protected by Natura 2000. It is a shorter, family-friendly hiking variant of the Circuit de Monthault in the Sologne des étangs.

Culture and Townscape

The Church of Saint Martin in Veilleins was rebuilt at the beginning of the 12th century by canons of the Saint-Cosme priory. Access is via the cemetery; there, a stone base dating from the late 15th century can be seen, supporting the cemetery cross.

La Forge is a half-timbered building characteristic of traditional Sologne architecture. Historical building materials such as wood, clay and bricks were used during its restoration; the small stained-glass windows were preserved.

The Circuit de l’Ardrelle passes through the centre of Veilleins, by Sologne half-timbered houses, including La Forge, a former inn classified as a historic monument, as well as the locature at La Pilaterie.

The communal pond of Veilleins has toilets and a picnic area. Fishing is possible at the communal pond.
