Château de la Thomasserie is a hunting lodge built in the second half of the 18th century, with a U-shaped layout and surrounded by water-filled moats. In the Centre region, the château has a rare, possibly unique vestibule with a painted vaulted ceiling depicting Diana’s chariot and allegories of the four seasons.
Culture
The protected features of Château de la Thomasserie include the central residential wing and its furnishings, the façades and roofs of the buildings forming the wings of the courtyard of honour, as well as the access bridge and the masonry-lined moats. They were registered as historic monuments by decree of 22 September 2009.
The altarpiece with the painting “Christ on the Cross”, the tabernacle and the altar base dates from the 17th century and was revised in the 19th century.
Near Vallières-les-Grandes is Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire. Château de Cangey, Clos Lucé and Château de Chenonceau are also located nearby.
