Culture and history
The church of Montlivault was dependent on Pontlevoy Abbey. It originally dates from the 12th century and has been fully listed as a historic monument since 12 April 2010, following the discovery and restoration of wall paintings.
The park of Château de Montlivault was created and landscaped in 1835; rare tree species include sequoias and a cedar of Lebanon. Château de Montlivault is partially protected as a historic monument.
The large residential wing was built between 1610 and 1620 in the Louis XIII style on the foundations of the former Courbanton manor house. Montlivault can be explored via the “Histoire au fil des rues” tourist walking tours.
