Cloyes-sur-le-Loir demonstrates a special connection between landscape and literature with the Parc Émile Zola: the large, tree-lined park lies between two arms of the Loir. Cloyes-sur-le-Loir is a stage on the Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. The “Circuit N° 1 – Cloyes-sur-le-Loir” cycle tourism route also runs through Cloyes-sur-le-Loir. The circuit from Cloyes-sur-le-Loir offers sweeping views of the Loir Valley, the ponds and the Château de Montigny-le-Gannelon.

Cloyes-sur-le-Loir has been awarded the Village Étape designation and is located five minutes from National Route 10.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Georges dates from around the year 1000. Its nave was extended around 1400; the bell tower was also built during this period. The church contains numerous remarkable statues. The Église Saint-Georges is partially listed as a historic monument; the bell tower was protected by decree on 9 July 1927.

The Chapelle d’Yron combines the simple Romanesque style of the 11th century with the more refined and richly ornamented Romanesque style of the 12th century. Its roof is supported by a remarkably well-preserved chestnut-wood roof structure.
