The type 1 ZNIEFF natural area of Bois de Montholon encompasses Paroy-sur-Tholon. Within its boundaries, forests, grasslands, thickets, vineyards, orchards, and fallow land alternate, providing animals and plants with places of refuge. The Montholon ridge overlooks the Yonne Valley and offers wooded areas amid an extensive agricultural landscape.
The “Sur les pentes du Montholon” hiking route runs through the municipality of Paroy-sur-Tholon. It begins at a water tower just beyond Paroy-sur-Tholon in the direction of Aillant-sur-Tholon; parking is available at the water tower. The route passes through wooded sections and along slopes offering views over the Tholon and Yonne valleys.
